I was looking for a "better" portfolio manager and found PSM Gold and purchased it as it appeared to be perfect.

I had built my list of stocks in 4 folders with various stocks in each folder and everything looked good until I sold a few stocks last Friday.

Since I'm new and could be confused, this is what happened...

- They were removed for my "Active Securities" Tab and my "Current Holdings" Tab

BUT....
- The transactions were removed from the "Tranactions Register" Tab
- The transactions were removed from the "Reports" Tab

It's like I had never bought and sold these stocks!!!

I can't find the information anywhere.

How am I supposed to track "sold" items for the gov't?

Bob,

First, I would like to suggest posting PSM questions in the PSM users forum on personalstockmonitor.com. This forum is really intended only for collabinvest questions.

As far as the disappearing transactions, after entering the sale transaction, did you delete the ticker from Active Securities? Since the transactions are linked to the ticker, this is the only way I can see that the transactions would disappear like you described.

Sorry Anatoly...
I'm so new I didn't realize there was 2 forums.

Thank you for your help.

My belief is: A transaction is a transaction.

I buy a candy bar... the storekeeper has a record of this transaction even if I eat the candy bar.

So, yes I removed these stocks from my Active Securities folder because I didn't own them anymore. (Why would I want these cluttering my Active Folder?... they're NOT active)

I assumed that all the activity was saved in the "Transaction Register" for later disclosure as I need it for taxation purposes.

If this is truly the case... How am I to keep these transactions for further use?

Thanks in advance,

I don't think candy is a good analogy.

We look at it more like having inventory. You buy a stock, sell, buy more, maybe buy more, then sell a part or all of it. All along you have an inventory record for that stock that records your buys and sells.

Tickers in PSM are like those inventory record. You don't want to throw the records away, otherwise you lose the history of your buys and sells. But you can file them so they are not in your active pile. To that end, PSM has a Mark Inactive command under the Account menu.

(BTW, when you selected the Delete option to delete the ticker, there was a warning that all associated transactions would be deleted as well.)
