We heard from a customer today that Microsoft is shutting down their MSN Money Portfolio Manager product line leaving their customers with few options.
After some trail and error I've come up with a way of transferring all the data from MSN Money Portfolio Manager into Personal Stock Monitor gold:

Two books from my library that have been useful to me in stock investing are:
1. $even Letter$ Inve$tment Guide by Clarence Wolf, Jr.
2. How to Trade in Stocks by Jesse L. Livermore

Both books are oldies but goodies, plus they are short reads which I find to be a definite plus. Currently I am looking to get into options trading as I think that is a way to get ahead in the market if you know what you are doing, or really loose your shirt if you don't know what you are doing. Which is why I probably have never done options.

It's Anatoly that deserves the credit for Personal Stock Monitor. He's developed all of the desktop software. I'm just responsible for the server side stuff such as this forum system.

As for board policies, no worries. You can also direct people to send you a private message from your profile in case you'd like to keep a running thread "facebook style". (It'll notify you by email that you received a message). I wonder, should I add a "Send Message" link under the profile pic here in the forum to make it easier for people to reply privately to a post instead of having to navigate to the profile?

Soon we hope to field many more ways for our users to collaborate here. What we have opened up so far is just the tip of the iceberg.

First I must say the Personal Stock monitor software is quite amazing. Thank you for your efforts (Yermo)
I am using PSM gold as a engine to feed a Access database. I export updates of every symbol from the NYSE AMEX and NASDAQ (approximately 6800 symbols after some culling) from PSM gold to Access via the tab separated values option of PSM Export currently at 5 minute intervals.
(Editorial comment- I'll bet the folks at Yahoo finance love me!!)
I then assign each record a key and parse the into 3 tables -
1) Start of day (containing info like Date, 52 week low/high, average vol, etc)
2)IntraDay- (containing Date/time, volume and price)
3) Headline (A running list of each new headline.)

Using Access, I can then filter on Headline keywords, compare data collected over time (primarily intraday)

Perhaps this effort is viewed as redundant to a advanced user of PSM, but my view is a database is a more appropriate program for performing the type of "hunting" I am looking to align the system to perform.

My vision of the project as both a never-ending work in progress as well as a venue for learning about the whole process represents a significant effort and is, in addition to a fascinating project, a way to locate stocks suitable for a quick trade with a small but steady profit. So far my results have been satisfactory, if you factor in the learning process.

Normally I don't post, but it seems that people who visit this site may be like minded. As such, if anyone is interested in collaborating on the project, I would like to establish a dialog. Provided I'm not violating any message board policies by asking for a response by e-mail, please send me an e-mail at andersonandco@hotmail.com and we can discuss this further.

There are many tangents to follow. I am going to try using PSS to get realtime quotes by splitting up the aforementioned symbol list into 600 symbol chunks, and polling the ists. I plan to use Access to analyze the quote information and develop focus lists to check at much more frequent intervals.

That's actually not the first time we've had problems with Comodo, but it happens rarely enough that I forget about it, and the symptoms don't point directly to it. We should make it a sticky or FAQ or something.

The problem seemd to be the firewall software I am using: Comodo. Once I disabled it, your software installed as usual.

Sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. I was out of the office for a few hours.
The first screen comes up, titled "Welcome", you click next and then it just hangs?? We've gotten no reports other reports of this and aren't able to reproduce it here.
Are you still able to run the version you have installed?

Hello Yermo,

I have downloaded your new version today 3 times. Each time I try to install, the installation hangs up on the first screen "Program not responding."

I have rebooted and still no go. Normally, your installations run like clockwork.

I have Windows XP.
any ideas?

I tired downloading the new fix but the download stopped in mid stream. I aborted the download. When I went to try again, the new version to download does not show up in the Update Wizard for me to get.

How do I get around this?

We did some refactoring on the transaction register on the PSS 9.7.2 and PSM 8.7.2 builds.

Unfortunately it looks like a problem got through our testing and there is a crashing problem on entering transactions.

We are diligently working on solving the problem and hope to have a new release ready on Wednesday.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. More as it develops.

I have forgotten who asked for it, but to the user I chatted with in CI about charts we did add the Next Prev buttons so you can now flip through the charts in an account very easily. Sometimes it's the smallest new features that have the biggest impact.

You are right about the volume... BIG, BIG volume... Check out the pink sheets and revenue statements (Right click in PSM then select news) and you will get your answers as to why the stock isn't even up to a penny per share yet... WOW talk about a long shot... Good luck my friend.
